The Canadian public will not be able to buy legal recreational cannabis on July 1st.
The opportunity to buy pot from the government will be delayed by eight to twelve weeks while shops get ready to sell product after the law is enacted.
While an interesting headline, we think this will be inconsequential to the “green rush” that will happen when curious Canadians flock to buy legal pot. Look no further than Colorado and Nevada’s inability to keep up with demand when recreational pot was legalized.
While this initial spike will likely be fueled by the novelty factor, there is no doubt the new market will be here to stay.
